Veterans of the siege of Gomel Region received memorial signs

On the eve of the Victory Day celebration, the veterans of the siege of Gomel and Gomel Region received memorial signs “In honor of the 75th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege”. The award, established by the government of St. Petersburg, was awarded to 34 citizens with the medal "For the Defence of Leningrad" or the badge "Resident of Blockaded Leningrad".

Employees of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Gomel, who visited veterans at home, assumed the honorary mission of awarding. When presenting commemorative signs and greeting cards, Anton Beryanov, acting head of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Gomel, noted that the jubilee awards are a sign of attention and respect for the heroic generation: teach today's youth. We are pleased that we had the opportunity to thank the heroes for the great Victory, to bow before their courage”.

The Presidential Library features the collection “The Memory of the Great Victory”, which includes official documents, photo and newsreels, war newspapers, books, propaganda articles, collections of articles, biographies, testimonies of combatants and rear workers, their personal documents, images of military and labor awards, monuments and memorial complexes.
