Honors pupils of the total dictation awarded in London

1 May 2019

In the capital of Great Britain, the participants of the London part of the global campaign "Total Dictation" were awarded. Those who successfully wrote the text at the sites of King's College in London and the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo were awarded.

Excellent pupils received books by modern authors from Rossotrudnichestvo, subscriptions to Russian-language magazines and other gifts. The youngest participants of the campaign were pleased with sweet surprises. Those interested could receive their dictation and comments of the philologist. The work of “dictators”, site curators and volunteers was also noted.

In the course of the event, the guests learned a lot of interesting facts about the campaign: how the dictation check goes on, who can be the verifier, where the “dictators” are found and what ridiculous mistakes were made.

Natalya Pochekutova, the organizer of Total Dictation in London, shared her emotions: “When the youngest participant is seven years old and the oldest is almost 90, and they sit in one audience, you realize that there are no boundaries: neither age, nor social, nor national. "Total Dictation" is not about assessments, it is a fun celebration of the Russian language that is taking place all over the world".

According to the organizers, about 200 people checked their literacy in London. Natives of Arkhangelsk, Chelyabinsk, Moscow, Rostov-on-Don and other Russian cities, as well as Ukraine and Bulgaria, wrote dictation at the site of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo.

The Russian Language electronic collection is presented on the Presidential Library’s portal. It includes manuscripts and publications of monuments of Russian literature, archival affairs, research papers (including dissertations and theses), dictionaries and reference books, as well as teaching aids. The digital collection will be of interest not only to specialists in the field of linguistics, but also to a wide range of users who love and appreciate the Russian language.
