On May 14, 2019, specialists of the Mikhail Lermontov Penza Regional Library, on the basis of which the Regional Center of the Presidential Library operates, were held a lesson for pupils of the City Center for Technological Education.

The children were introduced to the activities of the Presidential Library, they were told about the process of digitizing books, the search system prlib.ru portal, as well as the copyright and the electronic reading room.

The practice in the electronic reading room was timed to the 275th anniversary of the Russian journalist and publisher of the times of Catherine II Nikolai Novikov. The children found the book by V. A. Bogolyubov “Nikolai Novikov and his time" of 1916 edition and answered a number of questions about the life and work of the famous Russian educator.

One of the important activities of Novikov was to uphold the national foundations of culture, opposing blind worship in front of everything foreign. Therefore, he produced not only magazines, but also historical publications. So, from the rare book of S. E. Usova “Nikolai Novikov, his life and social activities" the children learned that in 1773 Novikov began to print monuments of Russian legislation, in particular, a collection of historical documents "Ancient Russian Vivliofika”.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection “Penza Region: Pages of History”. It includes archival documents, essays, studies and statistical materials covering demographic, geographical, socio-economic, socio-political and other aspects of the history of the region of the late 18th - first third of the 20th century. The current Charter of Penza Region is provided.
