Conference of Russian compatriots in Europe underway in Berlin

On May 21, 2019 the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin hosted a regional conference of organizations of Russian compatriots of European countries entitled “Russian-speaking European Diasporas for Cooperation”.

The event was attended by 45 delegates from 35 European countries: representatives of the coordinating councils of organizations of Russian compatriots from different countries of the world, members of the Regional Coordination Council of Compatriots in Europe, members of the Coordination Council of Russian compatriots in Germany and chairman of the Internal Coordination Council.

The conference involves the discussion of topical issues of consolidation of Russian-speaking communities in Europe, including the role of youth movements and associations in this process, issues of interaction with civil societies of countries of residence, protection of the rights of compatriots and their participation in the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in 2020, as well as a number of other topics.

 “Russia-Germany: the History of Relations” collection is available on the Presidential Library’s portal. It includes studies, essays, archival materials and collections of documents that reflect individual pages in the history of Germany from the 9th century, as well as a long history of diplomatic, military, economic and cultural ties between Russia and Germany from the middle of the 17th century to the present.
