The Presidential Library awarded winners and prize-awardees of "Russia in the Electronic World" Olympiad

The Presidential Library hosted a solemn awarding of winners and prize-awardees of the IX annual interactive Olympiad for schoolchildren "Russia in the Electronic World" in history, social studies and the Russian language. This year the summing up of the contest was timed to the 10th anniversary of the first electronic library of Russia, which is celebrated on May 27.  

In addition to the heroes of the day, the event was attended by representatives of the St. Petersburg Education Committee, the City Center for Olympiads, information and methodological centers of the Krasnoselsky and Moscow districts, pupils of schools, gymnasiums and lyceums of our city. Via the video conferencing mode, the event was joined by winners and prize-awardees of the Russia in the Electronic World Olympiad from other regions who attended remote sites: the Reserve Center of the Presidential Library in Moscow, the branch of the Presidential Library in Tyumen, the site of the regional Presidential Library libraries in Tambov.

In his welcoming speech to the winners and prize-awardees, the rector of the Herzen  State Pedagogical University of Russia, permanent partner of the Presidential Library, Sergey Makhov said: “The Olympiad brought together the most talented and goal-oriented guys who are ready to conquer new heights of knowledge, who are ready to work hard to achieve brilliant results in life, in the future profession, and in the development of their country" .

In 2019, 352 students from 48 regions of Russia and the Republic of Belarus reached the finals of the Olympiad “Russia in the Electronic World”. As a result, 42 high school students became winners and prize-awardees - 14 in each discipline. The guys were awarded diplomas of I, II and III degrees.

The first in the knowledge of history were Polina Bagrova (multidisciplinary school № 17 named after Marshal of Engineering Troops A. I. Proshlyakov, Ryazan), Georgy Gavryutin (gymnasium № 16, Tyumen), Andrei Chuchunkov (gymnasium № 1 - Education Center, Shchyokino, Tula Кegion) and Polina Sobolnikova (gymnasium named after N. D. Litsman, Tobolsk, Tyumen Region).

Ist degree diplomas in the subject “Social Studies” were received by Anastasia Butorina (secondary school № 1 named after Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Sivko, Severomorsk, Murmansk Кegion), Georgy Gavryutin (gymnasium № 16, Tyumen), Natalya Nikishova (secondary school № 1, village Pachelma, Penza Region) and Polina Ushakova (V. A. Kazakov Aviation Technical School, Zhukovsky, Moscow Region).

Natalya Andronova (secondary school № 6 named after Admiral A. P. Avinov, Kasimov, Ryazan Region), Elizaveta Akhmerova (Academic Lyceum named after N. I. Lobachevsky, Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan) were recognized as the best in the knowledge of the Russian language, Vitaly Glazunov (Lyceum № 44, Lipetsk) and Maria Makarova (gymnasium№ 12 named after G. R. Derzhavin, Tambov).

Winners and prize-awardees of the Olympiad traditionally receive advantages when entering higher educational institutions of Russia. The Olympiad is co-organized by the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, as well as such leading universities of our country, such as the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, the Russian University of Peoples Friendship, and many others.

Traditionally, the program of the solemn ceremony of awarding the winners and prize-awardees of the interactive Olympiad for schoolchildren "Russia in the Electronic World" consisted of two parts. After the official part the guests of the Presidential Library were shown a theatrical performance. Pupils of the theater studio “SKAT” of secondary school № 546 with in-depth study of the subjects of the artistic and aesthetic cycle presented to the audience a play by the classic of Russian literature by I. A. Krylov “Lesson to daughters”.

Olympiad for schoolchildren "Russia in the Electronic World" is held annually in three stages from September to March. Tasks of the first two stages are carried out online. The final stage of the contest is traditionally held in person at the Presidential Library in St. Petersburg, at the branch of the Presidential Library in Tyumen and at remote sites throughout the country and abroad. In 2019, the finalists met at 27 remote venues: in Moscow, Blagoveshchensk, Novosibirsk, Salekhard, Rostov-on-Don and many other cities of our country, as well as at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in the Republic of Belarus.

This year, for the ninth time, more than 6,000 schoolchildren from 79 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, as well as seven foreign countries: Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan took part in the Olympiad. In total, since 2010, about 40 thousand students in the 10th and 11th grades took part in the project, which aims to turn students to sources on the history of Russia, the theory and practice of Russian statehood.
