
130th anniversary of the birth of Anna Akhmatova celebrated in the capital of China
An evening at the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing, dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of Anna Akhmatova, the great Russian poetess of the Silver Age, translator and literary critic was held on June 24, 2019.
In the course of the event, the guests learned a lot of interesting things about the life and career of the poetess, listened to recordings of poetry reading performed by the author. In addition, her works were recited by Chinese students from the Institute of Retraining at Beijing University of Foreign Languages.
The participants of the creative part of the event received certificates from the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing.
The library of the center also organized a thematic book exhibition dedicated to the anniversary date of the poetess.
The Presidential Library’s portal features “Russia in Persons” collection, which contains biographical materials about prominent Russian state, political, military, public and church figures, scientists, culture and art. The section “Workers of Culture and Art” contains materials “Anna Akhmatova (1889–1966)”, which relate to the life and work of the great Russian poetess.
