Event dedicated to the International year of the Periodical table of chemical elements was held in Bulgaria marking the 150th anniversary of the Mendeleev’s periodical law

The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences held a meeting dedicated to the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements, which was created by Russian scientist Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev.

The meeting has been organized by the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences with the support of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Bulgaria.

The event was attended by academicians, corresponding members of the BAN, professors in chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, nuclear physics, as well as teachers of universities and specialized schools. Representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences were among the guests of the meeting: President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev, President of the International Society of Young Chemists of the World in 2016–2018, Professor Ilya Vorotyntsev.

The Presidential Library’s portal features “Dmitri Mendeleev (1834–1907)” collection. 

It includes works of the scientist, his correspondence, archive documents about his relatives, about scientific, pedagogical and social activities, research of the XX century about the scientific heritage of Dmitri Mendeleev, as well as visual materials.
