Day of war veterans celebrated in Tashkent

July 1, 2019 the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Tashkent marked the Day of war veterans. Since 2009, this holiday also bears the name "Day of memory and sorrow of war veterans". The event brought together participants in the hostilities in Afghanistan, Egypt, Angola, Cuba and other hot spots. Veterans discussed cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan in the fight against terrorism.

Special attention was paid to preparing for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, the issues of educating the young generation on heroic principles, developing the volunteer movement, and strengthening the fighting fraternity of veterans of the two countries.

The Presidential Library’s portal features “Russia - Uzbekistan: the History of Relationships” collection. It includes archive documents, postcards and photographs devoted to geography, historical administrative structure, cultural and economic development of individual cities and territories of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
