Multinational culture and Caucasian charm in spotlight of the Presidential Library’s collections

The results of the III Kavkaz.doc All-Russian Media Competition designed to capture the Caucasus in all its manifestations, were summed up in Cherkessk. The jury was faced with the difficult task of identifying the best of several thousand papers received from different regions of the country, including central Russia and the Republic of Crimea, as well as neighboring countries.

The Kavkaz.doc Media Competition is held for the third year in a row with the support of the Head and Government of Karachay-Cherkessia, the Presidential Library and the Union of Journalists of Russia. The competition is a large-scale event of the Presidential Library's first information and educational center in the North Caucasus, opened on the basis of the Arkhyz 24 Republican TV Channel in Karachay-Cherkessia.

The main goal of Kavkaz.doc is to promote the positive image of the North Caucasus at the federal level, to support representatives of the media environment, both professionals and amateurs, as well as to draw the attention of citizens of the country and residents of the republic to historical events related to the development of Karachay- Cherkessia and other republics of the North Caucasus.

This year, not only photographs, but also video clips, as well as text materials published in the media and the blogosphere could take part in the competition. They reflect not only the amazing nature of the North Caucasus, but also interesting personalities, vivid events, a variety of stories reflecting the multinational culture and Caucasian flavor.

Winners were announced in nine nominations. Thus, in the nomination “The Caucasus: A Breath of History” (photographs, video works, as well as thematic publications both in the media and on blog resources of historical subjects), the work of Elena Afonina (Republic of Chechnya), entitled “Hearth of Ancestors” was recognized as the best; photograph of the Adyghe blacksmith Arsen Khashkhozhev, authored by Alexander Khoroshilov (Krasnodar Territory), won the nomination "Caucasian Character" (beauty of people engaged in labor for the benefit of the region); the blacksmith boy captured in the photograph brought Renat Urusov (Cherkessk, KCR) to the first place in the nomination “The Future of the Caucasus” (young countrymen).

In the nomination “Caucasus: Day By Day” (significant events at the regional or district level) Polina Pogrebitskaya (Yekaterinburg) became the winner with a series of photographs from the International Mountain Skiing Festival # KatadZeRKV-2019, in the nomination “Mountain Girl. How Beautiful You Are Today!” (photograph, reflecting the beauty of Caucasian women) won Zukhra Karamurzina (Karachay-Cherkess Republic), in the nomination “Caucasian Health” (countrymen-athletes and long-livers) —Andrey Smolnikov (Stavropol Territory).

Yury Budulnikov (Armavir, Krasnodar Territory) and his "Cliff" won the first place in the nomination "Magic of the Caucasus" (nature of the North Caucasus). Three winners won the nomination “Mobile Caucasus” (photographs and video works published on social networks): Ivan Gubsky (Essentuki, Stavropol Territory), Artem Meletov (Pyatigorsk, Stavropol Territory) and Fazir Kurbanov (Karachay-Cherkess Republic). Alexey Bobrovskikh (Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Territory) became the best in the nomination “A Word about the Caucasus” (textual materials of free subjects, contributing to the formation of a positive image of the North Caucasus).

The winners of the III Kavkaz.doc All-Russian Media Competition will receive special awards and valuable prizes from the founders and sponsors of the project at the awards ceremony. In addition, the works of the laureates will replenish the electronic collections of the Presidential Library, which already present photographs of the winners of the previous Kavkaz.doc competitions.
