Vasily Shukshin’s 90th Birthday Celebrated in Kuzbass

Marking the anniversary of the famous Russian writer, actor and film director Vasily Makarovich Shukshin, which will be celebrated on July 25, 2019, the Kemerovo Regional Center of the Presidential Library has arranged a virtual exhibition “Having my Motherland in my Heart ...” dedicated to the life and work of a talented countryman. It is available on the YouTube Channel of the V. D. Fedorov Kemerovo Regional Research Library, as well as exhibiting on plasma panels in the library building.

Shukshin lived 45 years and died suddenly in 1974 on the set of the film “They Fought for the Country”. Until now, he remains one of the most beloved by Russians, especially Siberians.

One of the evidences of this is the musical drama “Do not stop your soul” based on the well-known film story of Vasily Shukshin “Kalina Krasnaya” from the repertoire of the A. K. Bobrov Kuzbass Musical Theater. The performance has been a success since 2011 and is always warmly perceived by the audience. The Presidential Library’s portal features “Kemerovo Region: Pages of History” collection. It includes research, statistical materials and archive documents of the second half of the XIX - early XX century, characterizing the administrative, socio-economic, demographic and ethnographic position of the Mariinsky and Kuznetsk districts, the territory of which forms the basis of modern Kemerovo Region.
