Friendship Celebration held in Tajikistan

July 29, 2019 the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Khojent hosted a meeting between members of the “RCSC Volunteers” movement and students and senior high school students who are just joining the ranks of volunteers. The holiday was dedicated to the International Day of Friendship, which since 2011 is annually celebrated on July 30.   

The head of the RCSC in Khojent, Ivan Ivanov, congratulated those present on the holiday. He noted that the modern volunteer movement in Russia most clearly manifested itself at such significant events as the XXII Olympic Winter Games, held in the Russian city of Sochi in February 2014, the Victory Parade and the Immortal Regiment's national procession, as well as 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.

In the course of the event, volunteers shared their knowledge with students and senior high school students. The guys were introduced to the prehistory of the holiday, with the history of the creation of the volunteer movement in Russia and in the world. They also took part in entertaining games, watched the presentation of the movement “Volunteers of the RCSC”. The holiday ended with the launch of sky lanterns.

2018 was declared the Year of the Volunteer in Russia. A special collection has been formed in the electronic collections of the Presidential Library, which includes official documents, studies, reporting materials of volunteer societies, archival files and photographs revealing various stages in the development of the volunteer movement. The brightest events of modern history, mentioned at the event, are reflected in the collections Winter Olympic Games in Sochi 2014, the 2017 Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Some of the materials of the Presidential Library’s electronic collections are available on the Internet portal. They are also provided freely in the information resources of the library in the remote access centers located in many countries of the world. Since 2011, visitors to the RCSC library in Dushanbe have the opportunity to use the entire volume of the Presidential Library’s collections, who are interested in documents on geography, history and ethnography of Tajikistan, as well as materials on the Great Patriotic War. The network of remote electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library continues to evolve. To date, the possibility of opening additional centers in Tajikistan is being considered.
