14 August 2019

Tyumen Region celebrates its 75th anniversary on August 14, 2019. Over the past decade, the Presidential Library and the region have established close cooperation in the preservation and enhancement of the historical and cultural heritage of Russia. In particular, in 2009, the governor of Tyumen Region Vladimir Yakushev was part of the working group to establish the Presidential Library, as well as its first branch at the Mendeleev Tyumen Regional Research Library.

Over 70 thousand documents were donated to the Presidential Library with the participation of the branch. This is more than 6% of the total volume of the electronic book storage fund. Among the materials transferred are documents from archives, museums, libraries of the region, unique local history content.

Centers of remote access to the resources of the Presidential Library, opened in Tyumen educational and cultural institutions, run in all 26 municipalities in the south of the region.

The first remote access center among educational institutions of Tyumen Region was opened in December 2014 on the basis of school No. 2 of the city of Zavodoukovsk. Today, full access to the electronic resources of the Presidential Library is already open in all schools of the Zavodoukovsk city district.

The branch in Tyumen Region implements various scientific and educational events. For example, since 2013, a teaching skill contest has been held in the district, including the nomination “Lesson Using the Electronic Resources of the Presidential Library”. The methodological partner of the contest, like many other projects of the Presidential Library, is the Tyumen Regional State Institute for the Development of Regional Education.

The resources of the Presidential Library are actively being promoted through a variety of projects. Among them - the online quest "Gosudarika", which introduces students to the site of the Presidential library "Gosudarika", which contains the main sources on the history of Russian statehood and the Russian language as the state language of the Russian Federation.

“HEROES 72” project introduces prominent personalities in the history of Tyumen Region, and “Merchant Tyumen” covers the history of merchants and the development of patronage in the city.

Bilateral cooperation between the Presidential Library and Tyumen Region is also developing in other areas. Thus, students of the region annually take an active part in the Olympiad of the Presidential Library “Russia in the Electronic World” and traditionally receive awards. In 2019, the first place in two subjects at once (history and social studies) was taken by a student of the gymnasium No. 16 of the city of Tyumen, Georgy Gavryutin.

The Presidential Library's information and educational center has also been opened in Tyumen, which is the link between the press, society and the government, and serves as a platform for presentations and discussions of social, research, cultural, scientific and other projects. The center runs at the Mendeleev Tyumen Regional Research Library within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the Presidential Library and the Government of Tyumen Region, signed on May 23, 2011.

Since 2017, the Tyumen branch of the Presidential Library has been actively cooperating with all entities that are part of the Urals Federal District, and coordinates the promotion of joint projects in these territories. With the support of regional governments and the direct participation of the Tyumen branch in 2018, regional centers of the Presidential Library were opened in the Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk Regions.

In 2017–2019, with the support of the Office of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy in the Ural Federal District, district methodological meetings were organized and held in Tyumen, Khanty-Mansiysk and Yekaterinburg. The Tyumen branch is the leading methodological platform of the Presidential Library for all regions of Russia to develop competencies in the field of interagency cooperation, and to develop mechanisms for cooperation with partners from various structures.

Any reader has got access to "Tyumen Region: Pages of History" collection on the Presidential Library’s portal.
