Tashkent hosted a round table dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II
A round table dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II was held at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Tashkent. The event was attended by leading historians of Uzbekistan.
According to Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Uzbekistan Vadim Mitrofanov, the peoples of the Soviet Union made a decisive contribution to the Victory: “The highest patriotism manifested itself during the difficult years of the war on the battlefields and on the labor front. In a single system they won a common Victory for all of us. Its great heritage is today an important spiritual value, a moral reference point for post-war generations”.
The participants at the round table discussed true genuine historical sources in studying the events of World War II. Official documents, photographs and newsreels, wartime newspapers, books, publications of a propaganda idea, collections of articles, biographies, testimonies of participants in military battles and rear workers, their personal documents, images of military and labor awards, monuments and memorial complexes are available in the remote electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library. These materials are presented in the collection Memory of the Great Victory.
