Pupils of Bishkek acquainted themselves with works of the writer Andrey Platonov

An event dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of the Russian writer Andrey Platonov was held in Bishkek on September 19, 2019. The educational program was prepared by the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Kyrgyzstan as part of the “Writers of Russia” project.

The meeting opened with the addresses of Yulya Gerasimenko, Deputy Head Teacher of the Pushkin school-gymnasium No. 17 and Irina Tsaryova, Curator of Russian Language and Educational Programs at the Russian Center of Science and Culture. The latter thanked the teachers and heads of the educational institution for their significant contribution to the promotion and preservation of the Russian language. She also told about the educational, cultural and youth projects implemented by the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Kyrgyzstan. Different publications, including fiction books, teaching and methodological materials, books on culture and history of Russia were donated to the school’s library.

The Presidential Library’s electronic collections also include materials, which spotlight the life and work of A. Platonov. Of particular interest are modern studies based on his works. They are available in the Center of Remote Access to the Presidential Library’s Information Resources, which was opened at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Bishkek in 2011. The library provides access to collections of books and documents dedicated to famous writers and poets of Russia: Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837)Mikhail Lermontov (1814-1841)Fyodor Dostoevsky (1821-1881)Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910)Vladimir Mayakovsky (1893-1930) and others.
