About four thousand people became spectators at the Russian Cinema Week in Bulgaria

5 November 2019

By tradition, the Russian Cinema Week in Bulgaria will take place in autumn. Viewers will learn about the latest in Russian cinema. Residents of Sofia, and in 2019 Plovdiv, were given the opportunity to watch the latest in the domestic film industry. An important part of the Russian Cinema Week is the meeting of viewers and journalists with filmmakers who themselves talk about their work.

In 2019, two young actors came to Bulgaria: Nikita Volkov, who starred in the science-fiction film “The Draft”, and Sergey Dvoinikov, who starred in the film “The Bull”. It was “The Bull”, which was released in 2019 and had already managed to collect a substantial number of awards, opened the Russian Film Week in Sofia. Before the screening of the films, the audience was welcomed by the head of the “Cinema” section of the Russian Cultural Information Center Vladimir Yastreba, as well as all members of the film delegation: director Evgeny Tores-Nevsky, film critic Dmitry Savelyev and the head of Fest-film company Sergey Bragin. Actors Nikita Volkov and Sergey Dvoinikov communicated with the audience very emotionally: they were interested in the opinion of the audience, asked about their impressions after the film was shown.

In Plovdiv, the start of the Russian Cinema Week was given by the film “Draft” - this is science fiction, based on the book by Sergey Lukyanenko. The next film, which pleased the residents of the city, was the comedy "Difficulties in Survival". The audience had a unique opportunity not only to watch these films, but also to directly ask their questions to the lead actor in “The Draft” and the director of the film “Difficulties in Survival”.

All the film works exhibited at the film festival, gathered full halls of spectators. The representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Bulgaria received a large number of positive feedback from viewers, as well as requests for film screenings in other countries.

The Russian Cinema Week in Bulgaria is the result of the joint work of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Rossotrudnichestvo, the Russian Embassy in Bulgaria and the Fest-Film Studio, which holds various film events.

A special collection has been formed in the electronic collections of the Presidential Library, dedicated to the Year of Cinema in Russia (2016). It included official documents, studies, visual media (posters, postcards, etc.) that reveal various aspects of the development of domestic cinema from the beginning of the 20th century, as well as dedicated to individual films and actors of Russian and Soviet cinema. In addition, the institution’s portal presents the first fiction films created in the Russian Empire, and modern documentaries of various subjects.

Only part of the materials of the electronic collections of the largest digital repository is available on the official page of the Presidential Library. The library’s information resources are provided at the remote access centers opened in various countries of the world, one of which has been opened at the RCSC in Prague since 2017.
