Assessment in Russian language held at the Russian Cultural Centre in Washington

7 November 2019

The state assessment in Russian language was held at the Russian Cultural Centre in Washington. The exam consisted of 5 parts and included reading, listening and writing, checking the knowledge of grammar and vocabulary, as well as speaking skills. Testing was carried out remotely with the participation of the Center for Linguodidactics and Language Testing of the Pushkin State Institute of Russian Language and an official member of the partner network “Pushkin Institute in the USA” - the Educational Center of the Russian Language and Culture “Metaphor”.

So far, such a format for passing the Russian language exam is very popular in the United States: the Rossotrudnichestvo Representation in Washington, being the only platform in North America, allows getting a state-certified certificate confirming the level of knowledge of the Russian language.

Students studying the Russian language can also take part in the Olympiad of the Presidential Library Russia in the Electronic World. In the 2019–2020 academic year, the Olympiad in the new subject Russian as a Foreign Language starts for foreign users of the library. Detailed information about the project is presented on the institution's Internet portal.

To prepare for the Olympiad, you can use the materials of the Russian Language electronic collection, which includes manuscripts and publications of monuments of Russian writing, archival affairs, scientific works (including dissertations and theses), dictionaries and reference books, study guides of various types and levels.

The collection is available in the centers of remote access to the information resources of the Presidential Library, located in different countries of the world. Since 2016, one of these centers has been opened at the Russian Cultural Centre in Washington.
