Russian Film Week opened in Vietnam

As part of the Cross Year of Russia and Vietnam, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Russia, Fest Film Company, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, the Department of Cinematography, and the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Hanoi, the opening ceremony of the Russian Film Week was held.

7 new films are presented to the attention of Vietnamese viewers, including “Anna Karenina. History of Vronsky”, “Matilda”, “The Guy from our Cemetery”, “Champions. Faster. Higher. Stronger”, “Battle for Sevastopol”, “Pure Art”, as well as the film “Mistresses”, chosen by the organizers for the premiere film screening of the Week. Subtitles in Vietnamese were prepared for all the films.

Opening the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Vietnam K. V. Vnukov noted that this notable event was intended to give residents and guests of the Vietnamese capital a great opportunity to feel the atmosphere of a film, provide an excellent chance to meet with Russian producers and directors of the films presented.

In his turn, the deputy head of the Cinematography Directorate of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, Mr. Do Quoc Viet, emphasized that Russian cinema had been taking a special place in the hearts of the Vietnamese audience for more than half a century, and was regarded by the professional community of filmmakers as an example for gaining valuable experience.

The producer of Fest Film Company Sergey Bragin confirmed the significance of the Russian-Vietnamese cultural dialogue in the context of the passing Cross Year of the two countries, and also thanked the Vietnamese side and the Russian Center of Science and Culture for their assistance in preparing for this important event.

A special collection has been formed in the electronic collections of the Presidential Library, dedicated to the Year of Cinema in Russia (2016). It included official documents, studies, visual materials (posters, postcards, etc.) that spotlight various aspects of the development of national cinema from the beginning of the 20th century, as well as dedicated to individual films and actors of Russian and Soviet cinema. In addition, the institution’s portal features the first feature films created in the Russian Empire, and modern documentary films of various subjects.

On the official page of the Presidential Library, only part of the materials of the electronic collections of the largest digital storage is available. The library’s information resources at remote access centers are available in different countries of the world, one of which has been opened in Hanoi since 2018.
