Bishkek to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the Break of the Siege of Leningrad

An event, marking the 77th anniversary of the Break of the Siege of Leningrad, was held In the D. Asanov’s Victory Park (the Kyrgyz Republic, Bishkek). It was arranged by the Kyrgyz Society of the Siege of Leningrad and the Embassy of Russia with the support of Bishkek Oktyabrsky district administration and Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Kyrgyzstan.

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic Nikolai Udovichenko congratulated the residents of the besieged Leningrad, and also expressed his gratitude to the residents of Kyrgyzstan for their help in evacuation from the besieged city, and contribution to the liberation. Anna Kutanova, chairman of the Kyrgyz Society of the Siege of Leningrad and Melis Nogoybaev, deputy chairman of the Republican Council of War Veterans, addressed the meeting with a welcoming speech.

Bishkek school students and representatives of the “Victory Volunteers” organization prepared an art program for the audience, they performed the wartime songs. The requiem finished with a memorial ceremony of laying wreaths to the heroes of the besieged Leningrad.

Everyone has an opportunity to be acknowledged with unique copies of the "Defence and Siege of Leningrad" collection in the Center of Remote Access to the Electronic Reading Room of the Presidential Library. It has been working on the basis of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Bishkek since 2011.

The thematic collection includes the following materials: official and personal documents, photo and newsreels, wartime newspapers, propaganda books and publications, collections of articles and biographies, memoirs of military battles participants, images of military and labor awards, monuments and memorial complexes.
