The Presidential Library hosted the final stage of the All-Russian Tolstoy Olympiad
The Presidential Library has become one of the venues for the final stage of the All-Russian Tolstoy Olympiad for senior pupils. In a historic building on Senate Square, 3 the Olympiad participants from the North-Western District will test their knowledge on social science on February 16. Earlier, on February 2, the final stage of the Tolstoy Olympiad in literature and February 9 on history was held.
The All-Russian Tolstoy Olympiad in social studies, history and literature for senior pupils has been held since 2013. Initially, the organizers of the educational project were the Tolstoy Tula State Pedagogical University, the Chelyabinsk State Pedagogical University, the Yesenin Ryazan State University, the Moscow State Regional Social and Humanitarian Institute, the Moscow City Pedagogical University. Every year, the number of partner universities is constantly growing. The Tolstoy Olympiad is included in the List of School Olympiads, approved by order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, which gives winners and prize-awardees the right to benefits when entering Russian universities.
The Presidential Library also participates in the Olympiad movement: since 2009, the institution has been holding an online Olympiad for schoolchildren “Russia in the Electronic World”, where schoolchildren have been competing in history, social studies, and the Russian language for ten years. In the 2019 anniversary year, the fourth discipline “Russian as a Foreign Language” was introduced, designed for foreign citizens over the age of 14 who are studying the Russian language. The first two stages of the Olympiad are held remotely, the third is the final one, allowing participants to test their knowledge in full-time format. Winners and prize-awardees also receive benefits for admission to partner universities, a list of which is published on the website of the Olympiad. Winners receive prizes and gifts from the Presidential Library.
Since 2010, more than 45 thousand schoolchildren of 10–11 grades participates in the educational project.
