The Presidential Library hosts grand gala concert of St. Petersburg State Conservatory’s graduates

On February 27, 2020, the Presidential Library hosted the first open exam for graduates of the vocal and directing faculty of the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory, which was held in the form of a grand gala concert. This project was a worthy continuation of the creative interaction between the oldest musical university in Russia and the Presidential Library. The opera masterpieces of Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Verdi, Puccini, Catalani were accompanied by the Conservatory Symphony Orchestra under the direction of students of the Department of Opera and Symphonic Conducting. The guests of the evening appreciated the vocal skills of young vocalists, already well known and loved by Petersburg music lovers.

The plans for further joint activities of the Presidential Library and the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory include a number of cultural and educational events: thematic webinars, video lectures, and conferences. Besides, in the framework of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the performance of the processing of works by different authors created by Dmitri Shostakovich in July 1941 for front-line concert brigades of the Leningrad Conservatory; half-stage performance of the opera “The Queen of Spades” by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and the opening of a virtual exhibition, dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the composer; preparation of a virtual exhibition marking the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven. It is also planned to digitize documents from the collections of the scientific musical library, the folklore-ethnographic center and the laboratory of the Russian Musical Medieval Studies conservatory and the opening of a center of remote access to the resources of the Presidential Library on the Glinka Street, 2 in the premises of the leading musical university of Russia.
