The Presidential Library’s resources spotlight the history of the theater for young residents of Penza

Employees of the Penza Regional Center of the Presidential Library held an interactive game for students of school № 47, during which they introduced the children to electronic library resources that reveal the secrets of theatrical art.

During the event, experts demonstrated sources from the Presidential Library’s collections that feature the history of the theater. In accordance with the book Theater of pre-Petrine Rus’: a public lecture by A. S. Arkhangelsky, describing ancient folk pastimes - “bear fun”, schoolchildren portrayed trained bears: how they “bowed up to those present in the ground and bow until get up until they are ordered”, “go limping” and “dance on their hind legs”.

Fourth graders also tried their hand at acting and performed exercises to develop speech and body plastic.

The Presidential Library’s portal features Penza Region: Pages of History collection. It includes archival documents, essays, studies and statistical materials which spotlight the demographic, geographical, socio-economic, socio-political and other aspects of the history of Penza Region of the late XVIII - first third of the XX century.
