Russia and Crimea have a common destiny

Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Crimea on the admission of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian Federation and the formation of new entities within the Russian Federation was signed on March 18, 2014. This was the result of referenda where the majority of voters voted in favor of reunification with Russia.

Presidential Library’s digital collections contain many unique materials on the history of the territory.

The electronic collection of the Presidential Library - Republic of Crimea: Pages of History - consists of more than 450 studies, essays, archival documents, photographs and other rare materials that spotlight all stages of the development of the peninsula from ancient times to the beginning of the 20th century.

The institution’s portal widely represents a pictorial resource on the peninsula. The special collection The Crimea in Postcards includes 850 electronic copies of postcards of the late XIX - early XX centuries, united by a geographical principle and vividly illustrating the life of various settlements of the peninsula. The earliest photographs date back to 1894.

Crimea is called the pearl of the world. Cimmerians, Taurus, Scythians, Greeks, Mongol-Tatars, Turks and other peoples left their mark in its history.

The Presidential Library actively interacts with Crimea. In particular, the Presidential Library’s specialists took part in the International Music Festival Palaces of Crimea - Palaces of St. Petersburg, acted as organizers of the All-Russian Conference on the Preservation of Historical Memory in the Digital Environment, opened a remote reading room at the Artek International Children's Center, and agreed on cooperation with the Vorontsov Palace in Alupka. Together with the Franko Crimean Republican Universal Scientific Library they organized the interregional web conference Crimea - Russia: the Past and the Present and etc.

Today there are 15 remote access centers of the Presidential Library within the territory of the Republic of Crimea and in Sevastopol.
