Exhibition of photographs “The Most Beautiful Country” held at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Gomel

An exhibition of the Russian Geographical Society has been opened at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Gomel, where photographs of the finalists of the media project “The Most Beautiful Country” are presented. The exhibition travels around the world. It has already been admired in Russia and in many countries abroad.

The pictures depict the most picturesque corners of Russia, which spotlight the image and character of such a large and so different country: these are picturesque nature, animals, the underwater world, people, cities, etc. Many shots were taken in hard-to-reach places, on protected lands.

The photo contest “The Most Beautiful Country” was first held in 2015. It is dedicated to preserving the nature of Russia and fostering a respect for the environment through the art of photography. Anyone can take part in the photo contest, regardless of their place of residence. The main condition is that photographs must be taken in Russia.

The section of fine materials of the electronic collection of the Presidential Library “Territory of Russia” represents the Russian territory in various aspects and in different historical periods. The pearl of the electronic collections is a collection of photographs of S. M. Prokudin-Gorsky from the 19th – 20th centuries from the collections of the Library of Congress.

The Presidential Library’s portal provides access to only a part of unique digitized materials which are publicly available in the remote electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library located in different countries. Since 2019, one of them has been opened at the RCSC in Gomel.
