The amended Constitution has been published

The amended Constitution of the Russian Federation, adopted following the nationwide vote, was published on July 4, 2020, on Saturday, on the Official Portal of Legal Information (www.pravo.gov.ru). The corresponding decree was signed by President of Russia Vladimir Putin on Friday, July 3, 2020.

“Adopted by the nationwide vote on December 12, 1993, with amendments approved during the all-Russian vote on July 1, 2020”, - the document says.

The law on the amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation was adopted by the State Duma on March 11, 2020 and on the same day approved by the Federation Council. Then the document was supported by the legislative assemblies of all the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The law explicitly stated that the amendments would enter into force only if they were supported by citizens, and this was repeatedly said by President of Russia Vladimir Putin. The nationwide vote on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation started on June 25. The main day was July 1.
