The virtual exhibition "Icebreaker Krassin - Hero of the Great Victory" presented in Warsaw
Marking the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, in the Year of Memory and Glory, the Museum of the World Ocean, located in Kaliningrad, has prepared an interactive exhibition about the oldest ship of its flotilla - the icebreaker Krassin, the legendary ship of the Russian fleet. The exposition is available on the website of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Warsaw.
The materials of the exhibition spotlight the history of the icebreaker "Krassin" and its combat crew, who performed a feat for the sake of the Great Victory in the most difficult arctic conditions. During the war, "Krassin" through the ice in the Arctic seas led caravans of ships with weapons and ammunition, food, medicine, fuel, vital for our country. In 1942, escorting the international polar convoy PQ-15, the icebreaker engaged the enemy and nearly died defending the caravan.
The famous ship, its history, work life and exploits are focused on in the film "Icebreaker Krassin: 100 years in the history of Russia", presented on the Presidential Library's portal. The film tells about the joint exhibition prepared by the specialists of the library and the branch of the Museum of the World Ocean in St. Petersburg "Icebreaker "Krassin" to the anniversary of the vessel. A lot of materials about "Krassin" are available in the electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library located in various countries of the world. One of them has been opened at the RCSC in Warsaw since 2017.
