"Savior of the Fatherland" exhibition dedicated to Mikhail Kutuzov opened in Penza

September 30, 2020 the Penza Regional Center of the Presidential Library at the Lermontov Penza Regional Library hosted the opening of the book exhibition "Savior of the Fatherland", dedicated to the 275th anniversary of the Russian commander Mikhail Illarionovich Kutuzov. The exposition provides readers with resources that illustrate life and military exploits of the famous statesman.

Among the books presented at the exhibition is a biographical edition of the series "The Life of Remarkable People", where Kutuzov is shown as a family man, and the book "Kutuzov: proetcontra: the image of Kutuzov in the cultural memory of the Patriotic War of 1812: an anthology" includes rare documents, fragments of correspondence, memoirs, characterizing him not only as a statesman and military leader, but also as an extraordinary personality.

The Presidential Library’s electronic collections include a large number of various materials, including little-known ones, devoted to the Field Marshal. For example, the publication “The Most Serene Prince of Smolensk, Field Marshal Mikhail Illarionovich Golenishchev-Kutuzov and His Contemporaries: A Historical Sketch of the Life of the Commander and His Epoch” published in 1896 is of great interest.

The Presidential Library has also formed an electronic collection "Penza Region: Pages of History". It includes archival documents, essays, studies and statistical materials that spotlight the demographic, geographical, socio-economic, socio-political and other aspects of the history of the region at the end of the 18th - first third of the 20th century, and in addition, the current Charter of Penza Region.
