Argentina marking Ivan Bunin’s 150th birth anniversary

Literary flash mob "Reading Bunin" was held as part of a set of events organized by the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Argentina on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Alekseevich Bunin, a Russian writer, poet and translator, Nobel Prize winner in literature.

The thematic campaign was attended by Russian compatriots, listeners of Russian language courses at the Russian Center of Science and Culture, Argentine residents studying Russian from Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata, Paraná and many other cities.

Argentine connoisseurs of Russian literature read with great interest the works of Bunin, the first Russian writer to win the Nobel Prize in Literature for "the strict skill with which he develops the traditions of Russian classical prose".

According to the participants of the literary flash mob, such events help not only improve their skills in the Russian language, but also join the culture of Russia, learn more about Russian classical literature.

The Presidential Library’s portal contains a number of materials about the life and career of Ivan Bunin. For example, the study "The poetics of the diary prose of Ivan Bunin" makes it possible to draw conclusions about the importance of the diary entries for the writer's work. The author of the work notes that in emigration Ivan Alekseevich continued to write only in Russian. Also the electronic collections of the library feature the catalog-album “Ivan. Bunin in Print (1897–2011)", which is a description of the books of Ivan Bunin and research about him kept in the writer's homeland in Voronezh.

The documents of the national electronic repository are available in full in the centers of remote access to the information resources of the Presidential Library located in various countries of the world.
