"Exhibition of One Edition" opened in the Kurgan Regional Scientific Library

On January 13, 2021, on the Day of the Russian Press, a rarity entered the collections of the Yugov Kurgan Regional Universal Scientific Library: a newspaper that is 112 years old! Birzhevye vedomosti, issued on March 15, 1909, in the hall of the regional center of the Presidential Library, at the regional library, was solemnly handed over by the director of the Kurgan TV and radio company, Ivan Belykh, to the head of the library, Natalya Kataytseva. At the beginning of the 20th century, Birzhevye Vedomosti was printed in St. Petersburg. It was a very popular social and political newspaper, which was published daily in the morning and in the evening in large circulation.

Today, a rare and valuable collector's item of the Birzhevye Vedomosti is the only one in Kurgan.

The pre-revolutionary copy of Birzhevye Vedomosti is available at the Exhibition of One Edition in the Rare Book Museum of the library until mid-February. The electronic version of the newspaper is available in the collection Periodicals of the Yugovka electronic library, where more than 10 thousand issues of Kurgan newspapers are already presented.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Domestic periodicals in the Presidential Library’s collections, most of which are available in full-text mode. The Journals section includes almost 170 titles of legal, socio-political, literary, geographical, local history copies. The Newspapers section of the collection is supplemented by 185 titles of socio-political, central and regional, front-line, specialized and other newspapers.
