27 January 2021

Walking through the exhibition halls of the State Memorial Museum of the Defence and Siege of Leningrad is now possible thanks to a virtual tour presented on the Presidential Library’s portal.

The main feature of this interactive tour is that the visitor learns about the exposition, which today exists only in the digital space. It was dismantled in May 2018, and after the completion of a major renovation in the museum, it was recreated in an updated form.

The virtual tour gives an opportunity from any corner of the world to see the museum halls, where photographs, maps, authentic wartime items are kept. Most of them are accompanied by comprehensive and carefully selected information about the exhibit, its history, context, etc.

Visitors to the Presidential Library’s portal, without leaving their homes, today can also visit the siege expositions of other museums - partners of the institution: the Kobona Museum: Road of Life, the Nevsky Pyatachok Museum, the unique school museum “And the Muses Were not Silent ...”.

Today, more than twenty-five virtual tours and excursions are available for remote visits. One has opportunity to learn about them on the Presidential Library’s portal in the Exhibitions section at the link https://www.prlib.ru/about_exhibition

Virtual projects are an actively developing area of the Presidential Library's activity, thanks to which the electronic repository along with paper, photo, audio and video materials is added with exhibits from exhibitions, items from museum collections.

12 temporary expositions of the Presidential Library, which at different times were presented in the building on Senate Square, 3, have also moved from real space to digital.
