The film "Children of the Siege of Leningrad" spotlighted at the Presidential Library’s cinema club meeting

January 29, 2021, at 14:00 the Presidential Library will host the Presidential Library’s cinema club meeting dedicated to the Lychkovskaya tragedy. Event participants will watch the film "Children of the Siege of Leningrad", created within the framework of the Diary of Memory project of the media center of the St. Petersburg Academy of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education marking the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

July 18, 1941 the Nazis bombed a train, consisting of 12 cars, occurred at the Lychkovo railway station of the Demyansk district of Leningrad (today - Novgorod) Region. There were about two thousand people on the platform and in the cars - Leningrad children and the adults accompanying them. The children were brought to Lychkovo from other settlements, where they were sent for summer holidays even before the start of the war; there were at the station those who were evacuated from Leningrad.

As a result of the raid of enemy aircraft only few managed to survive. The heroine of the film "Children of the Siege of Leningrad" Irina Zimneva is one of those who survived the terrible bombing. Doctor of Pedagogy, member of the Council of the Social Movement Forever Alive and Immortal Leningrad, Professor of the Derzhavin Academy of Russian Literature and Fine Arts, an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts, teacher of the year in 1995, a resident of besieged Leningrad Irina Alekseevna will become an honorary guest at the Presidential Library's cinema club meeting. 

The event will be broadcasted live on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live broadcasts section, on the official page on the VKontakte social network and in the Presidential Library film club group on the VKontakte social network, as well as on the institution's YouTube channel.

We draw the attention of the media representatives that it is necessary to forward applications for accreditation and arrive at the event in advance.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.

In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
