A series of lectures dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Fyodor Dostoevsky launched at the Presidential Library

February 19, 2021 the Presidential Library hosted a video lecture entitled “The Value of Life in the Artistic World of Fyodor Dostoyevsky” as part of the Knowledge of Russia project. The event was the first in a series of lectures "Fyodor Dostoevsky - Conversation about Values", dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the world famous writer, which will be celebrated on November 11, 2021.

The event was free. The meeting was held remotely and was broadcasted live on the Presidential Library's portal in Live broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events, on the institution's YouTube channel and on the VKontakte social network.

The lecture was given by Dmitry Bogach, Candidate of Philology, Senior Researcher of the South Ural State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University. He examined the works of art, journalism and the collection of letters by Fyodor Dostoevsky, told how the classic showed the value of human life, and refuted the stereotype that Fyodor Dostoevsky was a pessimistic writer.

As part of the event, Dmitry Bogach donated to the Presidential Library a copy of his monograph "Nature as a Value in the Legacy of Fyodor Dostoevsky" (2018).

The video lecture was attended by Irina Gribova, an honorary worker of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, a veteran of pedagogical work; Ekaterina Nizhegorodova, specialist of the Blue Bird library of the Krasnoselsky district; Natalia Schwartz, Secretary of the Fyodor Dostoevsky Russian Society; representatives of the Dresden Russian Center and students of school № 36 in Chelyabinsk.
