Alexander Pushkin’s Memorial Day held in Chisinau
A flower-laying ceremony at the monument to the Great Russian poet was held on February 10, 2021 according to a long-standing tradition in the capital of Moldova, marking the 184th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin’s death.
The commemorative event was held in the central park of Chisinau, which the writer visited in 1820-1823. In 1885 a monument in his honor was opened there. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Russian Embassy and the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Moldova, leaders and activists of public ethnocultural and creative organizations of Russian compatriots, teachers, schoolchildren, and media representatives.
On this day, a new youth project was launched at the Russian Center of Science and Culture within the framework of the Pushkin audience. A solemn event "Through the pages of the life of Alexander Pushkin" was opened by the Club of Young Pushkinists. The program was attended by schoolchildren of the V. Lupu capital lyceum and the academician Sibirsky Lyceum.
The Pushkin Auditorium of the RCSC also hosted the Pushkinsky Venok (Pushkin Wreath) literary and musical evening. The poems of the Great Russian poet were read with inspiration by the artist Ivan Golovin, famous in Moldova and France.
Since 2011, a center of remote access to the information resources of the Presidential Library has been opened at the RCSC in Chisinau. Guests of the center have opportunity to learn about the materials of the electronic collection Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837). It contains digital copies of books, articles, archival documents, abstracts of dissertations, videos, visual and other materials illustrating the life and career of the poet as well as the activities of the state to preserve the memory of him.
