Kurgan schoolchildren made a journey through the pages of the Red Book of the region

Specialists of the Kurgan Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the Yugov Kurgan Regional Universal Scientific Library met with the members of the club "Young local historian", pupils of the 4th grade of secondary school No. 42 in Kurgan.

As part of the club's educational activities, the library specialists introduced the schoolchildren to the Red Data Book of Kurgan Region an electronic copy of which is presented on the Presidential Library’s portal. The children learned about the flora and fauna of the region, the reasons for the extinction of animals and plants. Then young local historians took part in the quiz and looked for answers to riddles about the Red Book animals.

The Presidential Library’s portal features materials of the collection Natural Wealth of Russia. It includes materials on the history of the discovery, study, development and protection of natural resources of Russia, legislative acts and studies of the modern period, dedicated to the protection of the natural environment and the most efficient use of its resources.

A special section contains information on the history of nature reserves, wildlife sanctuaries and other protected areas. "Red Books" of all constituent entities of the Russian Federation are presented in the block of the same name of the section Plant and Animal Life.
