Films about the origins of the creation of the Russian fleet presented at the Presidential Library’s cinema club meeting

10 March 2021

The Presidential Library hosted cinema club meeting, which presented the films "The Maritime History of the Cossacks" and "The Cossacks in Kronstadt".

The films tell about the history of the creation of the first monument on the territory of Russia in honor of the naval victory of the Russian fleet in 1655, about the Ship charter of the Russian fleet in 1667 and many other little-known facts of history.

After watching and discussing documentary films, the presentation of the book "The Russian Fleet before Peter I (1496-1696)" took place. Its author, Alexander Smirnov, presented a rather polemical work in which he defends the thesis about the existence of a regular fleet of the Russian tsardom in the pre-Petrine period.

The honorary guests of the cinema club were a teacher of the Admiral Makarov State University of the Sea and River Fleet, Rear Admiral Vladimir Sokolov and a professor at the Admiral Kuznetsov Fleet of the Soviet Union, Captain 1st Rank Vitaly Dotsenko.

The event was broadcast live on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live broadcasts section, in the Presidential Library cinema club group on the VKontakte social network and on the institution's YouTube channel.
