The Maecenas and Benefactor Day celebrated in Yekaterinburg
April 13, 2021 the Sverdlovsk Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on of the Belinsky Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library held an educational program timed to coincide with the Maecenas and Benefactor Day.
Then there was provided a screening of films from the Maecenas of Russia cycle, presented on the Presidential Library’s portal.
Specialists of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library also held an excursion around the exhibition 3D: Do Good Deeds. The publications presented in the exposition reveal a variety of aspects of patronage, volunteering and charity. While viewing the selection, the entire history of Russia in the context of peacekeeping and volunteering seems to pass in front of the viewer. During the preparation of the exhibition, both business, educational, scientific literature and fiction were used: books about good deeds, trust, volunteering, and the implementation of charitable projects.
The key event of the day was the “Share the Good” meeting-presentation. Representatives of charitable and volunteer organizations, enthusiastic volunteers talked about their undertakings, projects, shared their experience in various areas: helping families and children, search activities, patriotic education, animal protection and much more. The participants of the meeting learned about those who make free repairs in the apartments of lonely old people, by the will of their hearts work in orphanages, help in nursing homes, support mothers with babies who find themselves in a difficult life situation, knit warm clothes and woolen octopuses for premature babies who are in neonatology departments, and many other people with responsive and open hearts.
The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Sverdlovsk Region: Pages of History. It contains statistical materials, studies, essays and photographs of the 19th - early 20th centuries and introduces the geographical, demographic, socio-economic and socio-political aspects of the history of the region.
