Virtual tours of the Presidential Library included in a large-scale historical online project

Several virtual projects of the Presidential Library are presented on the portal RIO. Compass.

RIO. Compass is a joint development of the Russian Historical Society and the History of the Fatherland Foundation. This is the largest library of online links to verified (reliable) historical resources located in the Russian-language segment of the Internet: documentaries, lectures, virtual exhibitions, 3D tours, etc. All links are divided into sections according to the historical and cultural standard, which allows effectively use the resource for educational purposes.

RIO. Compass includes such projects of the Presidential Library as the multimedia exhibition The Great Patriotic War, Which Determined the Outcome of the Second World War, a 3D tour of the school museum .... And the Muses Were Not Silent, virtual tours of the exhibitions Materialized Memory: Defence and Siege of Leningrad in Museum Expositions and An artist against the Fuhrer: Fascism in the caricatures of Boris Yefimov.

The multimedia exhibition of the Presidential Library The Great Patriotic War, Which Determined the Outcome of the Second World War covers the period from 1931 to 1945. More than 500 official documents, photographs, maps, periodicals and leaflets spotlight real course of military-political and diplomatic events of those years and make it possible to form the idea of ​​the reasons, the outbreak and the course of the Great Patriotic War in the context of the events of World War II.

Virtual tour of the school museum.... And the Muses Were Not Silent...shows the user a one-of-a-kind museum dedicated to the culture and art of Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War, which was created by the efforts of teachers and pupils of the Dmitry Shostakovich school № 235. The constantly renewed exposition tells about the cultural life of the besieged city, about the tragic fate of Leningraders, about the path to spirituality through books, music or theater.

The library of links RIO. Compass also includes a virtual tour of the Presidential Library exhibition Materialized Memory: Defence and Siege of Leningrad in Museum Expositions. One site combines exhibits from the besieged collections of various institutions of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region which allows looking in full and sometimes from unexpected sides at the tragic and heroic pages of our history.

A virtual tour of the exhibition An artist against the Fuhrer: Fascism in the caricatures of Boris Yefimov is dedicated to the classic of political satire, spotlighting all the significant events of the 20th century, the personal enemy of Adolf Hitler, a cartoonist whose works played an important role in the outcome of the Second World War. The virtual tour makes it possible to feel the atmosphere of the wartime, to understand the significance of Boris Yefimov's cartoons for the defenders of our country.

Virtual projects are an actively developing area of the Presidential Library's activity, thanks to which the electronic repository, along with paper, photo, audio and video materials, is entered with exhibits from the exhibitions and items from museum collections.
