Exhibition assisted by the Presidential Library opened at the Palace of Congresses

20 May 2021

The official opening ceremony of the multimedia exhibition "Fighting Fascism in Europe during the Second World War" was held on May 20, 2021 in the building of the excursion bureau of the State Complex "Palace of Congresses". The exposition is dedicated to the anti-fascist movement and international cooperation.

The exhibition has been prepared by the specialists of the State Complex "Palace of Congresses", the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg and the Presidential Library. It is based on digital copies of rare archival materials provided by partners of the St. Petersburg Association for International Cooperation from Italy, France, Serbia, Austria, Great Britain and Germany.

Visitors to the multimedia exposition will see photographs, posters of the war years, articles devoted to the activities of the Resistance movement in Europe, the role of "people's diplomacy" in organizing humanitarian aid actions and supporting the heroic struggle of the Soviet people against the enemy.

When creating the exhibition "Fighting Fascism in Europe during the Second World War" there were used technological and design solutions that were developed by the specialists of the Presidential Library for the multimedia project "The Great Patriotic War Which Determined the Outcome of the Second World War II”, presented in June 2020 in Moscow at the International Press Center for journalists covering the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Today it is publicly available on the Presidential Library’s portal.

Virtual projects are an actively developing area of the Presidential Library's activity, thanks to which paper, photo, audio and video materials along with exhibits from the exhibitions and items from museum collections entered the electronic repository.

The institution’s portal provides interactive expositions related to the Great Patriotic War. These are virtual tours of the exhibitions: “1939. The Outbreak of the Second World War", "The Great Patriotic War, Which Determined the Outcome of the Second World War. Marking the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945”, “Eureka and “The Island”: Tehran-43 and Yalta-45. History of Landmark Decisions”, "An Artist Against the Fuhrer: Fascism in the caricatures of Boris Yefimov. Marking the 80th anniversary of the Outbreak of World War II”. In addition, visitors to the Presidential Library’s portal, without leaving their homes, have opportunity to visit the State Memorial Museum of Defence and Siege of Leningrad, the Museum "Kobona: The Road of Life" and unique school museum "And the Muses Were not Silent...".

Today there are more than twenty-five virtual tours and excursions available for remote visits. They are now available on the Presidential Library’s portal in the Exhibitions section at the link https://www.prlib.ru/about_exhibition.
