Remote electronic reading room of the Presidential Library opened in the Republic of Belarus

The opening of the sixth remote electronic reading room of the Presidential Library in the Republic of Belarus took place on May 28, 2021. Now, the National Historical Archives of Belarus in Minsk provides access to the collections of the institution, which contain more than one million storage depository items. They are electronic copies of books and periodicals, archival documents, audio and video recordings, photographs, scientific and educational films, dissertation abstracts and other materials.

At the opening of the center of remote access to the resources of the Presidential Library it was noted that joint activities should be aimed at the exchange of documents and holding joint cultural and educational events. The archive materials will further enter the electronic collection Belarus: the History of Fraternal People which is available on the Presidential Library's portal. It includes rare documents, publications of a historical and legal nature, spiritual literature, essays, memoirs, ethnographic collections, maps and photographs. They vividly illustrate various aspects of the country's life from the 16th century to the present day.

The Presidential Library has been developing cooperation with institutions of the Republic of Belarus since 2010. Remote electronic reading rooms are already open at the Russian centers of science and culture in Gomel, Brest, Minsk, as well as at the Gorky Brest Regional Library and the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Nesvizh". In addition, since 2019, the Presidential Library has opened a center of access to the ETALON-ONLINE information retrieval system, developed by the Belarusian National Center for Legal Information.

The regional and foreign network of the Presidential Library is constantly expanding. The remote electronic reading room in the National Historical Archives of Belarus is the 44th in a row opened abroad. The centers of access to the resources of the Presidential Library are open in 30 countries. More than 1,200 remote electronic reading rooms are open in all 85 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
