Young readers of Penza learned about the history of the book
May 25, 2021 fourth-graders of the Penza Lyceum of Information Systems and Technologies No. 73 visited the Penza regional center of access to the resources of the Presidential Library opened at the Lermontov Penza Regional Library.
Specialists of the electronic reading room told the students about various ancient ways of transmitting information - from nodular writing to cuneiform writing. Then the guys got into the era of handwritten books. After working in the "scriptorium", they created their ornate initials and then watched a cartoon from which they learned how Gutenberg's printing press was arranged.
Even during the life of the pioneer printer, the machine began to be used in many European countries. Almost a hundred years later, Ivan Fyodorov created the Printing House in Moscow, where the first printed Russian book Apostle was published. The Russian first printer introduced a lot of new things into the printing technique. For the first time in the world, Ivan Fyodorov began to use two-color printing from one typesetting form. He also published Alphabet - the first textbook in Russia designed to teach children to read and write. The schoolchildren were interested to know what the first Russian illustrated alphabet looked like. The Presidential Library’s portal provides many interesting digitized publications for children to read.
The Presidential Library’s portal features Penza Region: Pages of History collection.
