The project laboratory "Coordinate System" launched in Sverdlovsk Region

A new project of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the Belinsky Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library "Coordinate System" is a summer design laboratory aimed at activating the work of the reference libraries of the Presidential Library’s network in Sverdlovsk Region.

The essence of the project is the step-by-step passage of theoretical blocks by the teams - meaning “points”. The "Coordinate System" provides the conventional axes which denote movement in time and the level of development and content of the future project.

The laboratory runs in a remote format. Participants involve 102 people from the libraries of Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Region, as well as Tyumen, Snezhinsk and Salekhard. Within the eleven weeks, librarians meet every Wednesday for online classes, do homework and fieldwork, and participate in online interactions.

Two classes have already passed. At the first setting, the schedule of the laboratory and the rules for participation in the project were announced. At the second lesson, they got acquainted with the team members, who introduced their captains, talked about their hobbies and the most interesting materials from their point of view, posted on the Presidential Library’s portal.

Workshops on creating multimedia products, classes on defining the target group and creating content and holding media campaigns were organized for the participants. In the course of the project, each team fills out the "Log book", where the participants enter the documents posted on the portal and in the electronic reading room of the Presidential Library, which, in their opinion, may be useful when creating a project.

As a result of passing all the "points" it is planned to form an action plan to promote the resources of the Presidential Library in each locality. In case of successful completion of all the stages of the laboratory, participants are issued a certificate of the established form or a certificate of completion of the course. And the most active, proactive and productive teams, as decided by experts from among the specialists of the Belinsky Library, can be encouraged with special diplomas and awards (travel grants, mementos).

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Sverdlovsk Region: Pages of History, which contains statistical materials, studies, essays and photographs of the 19th - early 20th centuries and spotlights the geographical, demographic, socio-economic and socio-political aspects of the history of the region.
