Marking the 200th anniversary of Fyodor Dostoevsky: the Presidential Library considered the topic of happiness in the novel The Idiot

July 7, 2021, the Presidential Library hosted a video lecture entitled The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky in the Light of the Axiology of Happiness within the framework of the Knowledge of Russia project. The event was the fifth in a series of lectures "Fyodor Dostoevsky – a Talk about Values" dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the world-famous writer, which will be celebrated on November 11, 2021.

The video lecture was free. The meeting was broadcasted live on the Presidential Library's portal in the Live broadcasts section in accordance with the live events program and on the institution's YouTube channel.

The lecture was delivered by Dmitry Bogach, Candidate of Philology, Senior Researcher of the South Ural State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University. He analyzed how the theme of happiness was revealed in Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel The Idiot. Participants in the video lecture learned what the heroes of the novel considered happiness and what path they went through to find it.

The Presidential Library’s materials illustrate Fyodor Dostoevsky. They are presented in the special digital collection Fyodor Dostoevsky (1821-1881) [The World of Dostoevsky]. It includes copies of the texts of the writer's works and materials about his life and oeuvre.

The cycle of lectures "Fyodor Dostoevsky – a Talk About Values" was launched on February 19, 2021.
