July 8, 2021, the Presidential Library, as part of the Knowledge of Russia project, hosted a video lecture entitled "Russian boys and girls of Dostoevsky: early philanthropists and abandoned youth". It was the sixth event in the series of lectures "Fyodor Dostoevsky – a Talk about Values", dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the world-famous writer, which will be celebrated on November 11, 2021.

The video lecture was free. The meeting was broadcasted live on the Presidential Library's portal in the Live broadcasts section in accordance with the live events program and on the institution's YouTube channel.

Within the framework of the video lecture, Dmitry Bogach, Candidate of Philology, Senior Researcher of the South Ural State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University, considered the topic of abandoned youth using the example of Fyodor Dostoevsky's novels. The participants in the video lecture learned why the classic paid much attention to the images of young people in his works, focusing on the problems of their lives and also noted the importance of education, parental attention and love for the formation and development of a healthy personality.

The Presidential Library’s materials illustrate Fyodor Dostoevsky. They are presented in the special digital collection Fyodor Dostoevsky (1821-1881) [The World of Dostoevsky]. It includes copies of the texts of the writer's works and materials about his life and oeuvre.

The cycle of lectures "Fyodor Dostoevsky – a Talk About Values" was launched on February 19, 2021.
