The main library of Khakassia joined the All-Russian campaign A Drop of Life

On September 3, 2021, Republic of Khakassia joined the All-Russian campaign A Drop of Life, timed to coincide with the Day of Solidarity in the Fight Against Terrorism. On this day, 17 years ago, as a result of the seizure of school № 1 by terrorists in the city of Beslan, 314 people died, 186 of them children. More than 700 people were injured of varying severity. The hostages were in the school gym for two and a half days without food or water.

The campaign  A Drop of Life was supported by the Domozhakov National Library. In memory of the events in Beslan, a book exhibition-viewing Together! Against terrorism, where readers were able to learn about the publications on legal, historical, geopolitical and other aspects of the fight against terrorism. In memory of the victims of Beslan, each reader was able to go up to a bowl of water, pick it up in the palm of his hand and give a tree to drink with bright wishes. In total, 165 took part in the campaign in the library that day.

The campaign Children Against Terror in the villages of Tolcheya and Tayozhnaya was also carried out by employees of the information and library services complex of the National Library.

The specialists of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the Domozhakov National Library organized a campaign for students and pupils in Abakan, the capital of Khakassia. The librarians visited the Boarding School for Visually Impaired Children and the College of Teacher Education, Informatics and Law. They told the audience about the tragic events in Beslan, how terrorists are recruited through social networks, how to resist it. At the end of the event, the participants symbolically shared water with those who are no longer with us - they took water from a bowl in their palms and watered the flowers.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Republic of Khakassia: Pages of History. It contains studies, archival documents and sound recordings spotlighting certain aspects of the socio-economic, socio-political and cultural development of the Republic of Khakassia and the Khakass ethnic group, as well as studies of the region's territory.
