Schoolchildren learned about the policy of Peter I at the Sakhalin Regional Scientific Library

On September 8, 2021, the Sakhalin Regional Universal Scientific Library delivered a lecture Foreign Policy of Peter. The Great Northern War for the eighth-graders of School No. 5. The event marked the 300th anniversary of the end of the Northern War.

The schoolchildren learned about the naval battles of Peter I with the Swedish fleet and about the victory in the Gangut and Grengam battles. The children also discovered why the Battle of Poltava determined the course of the Northern War, and the Peter and Paul Fortress laid the foundation for the development of St. Petersburg.

During the lesson, the guests talked about the results of the Northern War and the Treaty of Nystad, which made Russia one of the great powers of Europe.
