In his welcoming speech Dmitry Volvach, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, noted: "Armenia is one of the key strategic partners of Russia. Today Yerevan launches the House of Russian Books - a centre of mutual attraction. It joins the already existing institutions for strengthening Russian-Armenian cultural and humanitarian cooperation. It is the most important event in the development of business and public relations between our countries and peoples in the cultural and educational sphere".
According to its creators, the House of Russian Book should be a unique cultural space. It will provide access to educational literature and fiction, arrange meetings with authors of books, musical evenings, and exhibitions devoted to the culture and art of Armenia and Russia.
The House of Russian Book in Yerevan provides free access to the information resources of the Presidential Library. The institution's collections comprise more than a million items - digital copies of books and periodicals, archival documents, audio and video records, photographs, scientific and educational films, dissertation abstracts, etc. It also promotes a separate collection Russia - Armenia: The History of Relations, which covers the diplomatic, military, legal, educational and cultural cooperation of both countries.
