Round table at the Chuvash Regional Center of the Presidential Library

On October 6, 2021 the Regional Center of the Presidential Library hosted a round table “Pyotr Yegorovich Yegorov - the architect of St. Petersburg of the 18th century. The personality and creative heritage of the master: yesterday, today, tomorrow. On the occasion of the 290th anniversary of his birth” held at the National Library of Chuvash Republic. A comprehensive event with the support of the Presidential Library was held with an online connection from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tallinn. It exhibited book-subject, museum exhibitions, demonstrated video materials.

The event was attended by specialists from state and municipal authorities, federal, institutions of science, education, culture, art, representatives of public organizations, scientists, historians, art historians and culturologists.

The round table was preceded by greetings, the leitmotif of which was the announcement by the head of Chuvashia, Oleg Nikolaev, of 2022 as the Year of Outstanding Compatriots. Welcoming remarks were made by Anatoly Aksakov, Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Svetlana Kalikova, Minister of Culture, Ethnic Affairs and Archival Affairs of the Chuvash Republic, and Vladimir Zhivov, Chairman of the Chuvash Cultural Society of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region.

The participants of the round table in their speeches touched upon the main problematic issues requiring public discussion and balanced decisions regarding the improvement of the regulatory framework in the field of preservation of cultural and historical heritage, prevention of vandalism in relation to cultural objects and their sale for commercial use, etc.

In September 2021, the governor of Petersburg, Alexander Beglov signed a decree according to which the square on 6th Sovetskaya Street was named in honor of the architect Pyotr Yegorovich Yegorov (1731-1789) - the author of the project of the Church of the Nativity of Christ on the Sands revived today. Behind these events is the painstaking work of devotees, keepers of the creative heritage of Pyotr Yegorov, workers of the Foundation for Cultural and Historical Heritage "Memory of Generations" named after the architect Yegorov.

The round table also highlighted new steps to promote and preserve the creative heritage of Pyotr Yegorov: publication of scientific research, creation and presentation of museum exhibitions, personal electronic collection of the library of Chuvash Republic "Pyotr Yegorovich Yegorov", additions to the collection of the Presidential Library Chuvash Republic - works of art, documentaries, reconstruction of artistic objects of the public environment.
