A workshop for leaders and representatives of specialized local government bodies in charge of international relations was held at the Sverdlovsk Regional Center of the Presidential Library, a subdivision of the Belinsky Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library.

The event was held as part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Representative Office of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Yekaterinburg. It was dedicated to twin cities.

The workshop was attended by representatives of the administrations of Yekaterinburg, Perm, Tyumen, Magnitogorsk (Chelyabinsk Region), Shadrinsk (Kurgan Region), as well as representatives from the cities of Sverdlovsk Region - Polevskoy, Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Tavda, Bogdanovich.

At the workshop its participants shared their experience of cooperation with twin cities, told how they hold joint events, and most importantly, how they established twinning ties. It was noted that one of the important factors in the choice of twin cities is the coincidence of the cultural and historical codes of these two cities. We paid special attention to the theme of the implementation of patriotic projects.

“I think no one doubts that it is necessary to engage in sister-city relations. Now the development of sister-city relations is not only an initiative of the authorities and the state, but also of specific people, the public interested in this matter. They need to be encouraged and supported so that people continue to establish contacts. This makes everyone better", - said Alexander Vladimirovich Kharlov, representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Yekaterinburg.

The Presidential Library's portal features the collection Sverdlovsk Region: Pages of History, which contains statistical materials, studies, essays and photographs of the 19th - early 20th centuries and spotlights the geographical, demographic, socio-economic and socio-political aspects of the history of the region.
