The Presidential Library highlighted the traditions of imperial St. Petersburg in catering industry

December 6, 2021 the Presidential Library hosted a multimedia lesson "Imperial St. Petersburg - the creator of etiquette and service traditions in catering industry".

The event was the fifth in a series of lessons "The origins of St. Petersburg hospitality: events, people, places", organized by the Presidential Library in conjunction with the St. Petersburg State University of Economics.

As part of the meeting, Roman Tsai, senior lecturer of the Faculty of Service, Tourism and Hospitality of the St. Petersburg State University of Economics, told about the rules of good manners in the era of Peter I, the "Hermitage etiquette" of Catherine II and the dining etiquette of the 19th century, about the traditions of good manners of the imperial period that continue to exist nowadays.

The cycle of multimedia lessons "The origins of St. Petersburg hospitality: events, people, places" was launched in March 2021 with a lesson on the history of the first industrial exhibition in Russia, which took place in St. Petersburg in 1829. Within the second lesson, the participants were told about the first St. Petersburg hotels, within the third - how the formation of gastronomic traditions took place, and finally within the fourth - how Petersburg became the tourist capital of Russia.
