Russian House in Nicosia welcomes the Olympiad

Cypriot schoolchildren first will be able to take part in the Russian language Olympiad. The first round of the contest takes place online until December 8 and the final stage will take place on December 16 at the Russian House in Nicosia.

These four categories of students are invited to participate:

1. Pupils of the third grade of lyceums and public schools of the Republic of Cyprus. This category is closed. Students in public schools will learn about the conditions for participation from their teachers.

2. Pupils studying Russian as a foreign language (level B1+).

3. Senior pupils with Russian roots or at least one Russian-speaking parent.

4. All children under 14 years of age.

For categories 2 and 3, at the first stage, it is necessary to prepare essays on the given topics. Children from the fourth category have to take part in the "My Pushkin" reading contest. Contest entries must be uploaded to the electronic registration form by December 8. The best ones will be announced on December 13.

The final round will take place on December 16 at the Russian House in Nicosia in the format of a grammar quiz (for category 1), an oral presentation of one's competitive essay (for categories 2 and 3) and reciting the competitive poem (for category 4).

In addition, Cypriot schoolchildren will have opportunity to take part in the online Olympiad of the Presidential Library Russia in the Electronic World. Since 2019, the Olympiad has also been held in the subject Russian as a foreign language for residents of foreign countries. Detailed information about the project is available on the online portal of the Olympiad.

The materials of the electronic collection Russian Language, which include manuscripts and publications of monuments of Russian writing, archival files, scientific works, dictionaries, reference books and teaching aids, will help to prepare for the Olympiad.

The selection is provided in the centers of remote access to information resources of the Presidential Library located in various countries of the world.
