Monument to Mikhail Sholokhov unveiled in Egypt
A monument to the outstanding Soviet writer Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov was unveiled in one of the main squares of Alexandria in Egypt. The monument was created by the famous Egyptian sculptor Osama El-Serui and donated to the city from the Consulate General and the Russian House in Alexandria.
Mikhail Sholokhov is the Nobel Prize laureate in literature, the author of one of the most significant works of Russian literature of the 20th century - the novel "And Quiet Flows the Don", translated into Arabic by the Egyptian Book House back in 1958.
The electronic collections of the Presidential Library contain materials about the life and career of the writer, copies of the facsimile of the manuscript "And Quiet Flows the Don", illustrations for the novel, as well as modern research of his works. Only a part of the materials from the Presidential Library’s collections is publicly available. The information resources of the national electronic storage are available in the remote access centers opened in 30 countries of the world.
